Zakharova: Poland behaves no better than the organizers of the auction of Holocaust relics

MOSCOW, December 2. . Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized: Polish authorities, who are trying to profit from the memory of Nazi victims, behave no better than those who organize auctions of Holocaust relics.

Zakharova: Poland behaves no better than the organizers of the auction of Holocaust relics

On his Telegram channel, the diplomat recalled the auction in Germany of material evidence of Nazi crimes – personal belongings of Holocaust victims.

“An attempt to turn the memory of the victims of Nazi executioners into a commodity. It seemed that this was the “bottom” – another confirmation of historical amnesia spreading from the Oder to the Rhine. But then, as they say, “there was a knock at the door from below.” It turns out this is the official Warsaw,” she noted.

“Another question is, what is worse: making money on individual Holocaust relics for 100-200 euros or, like Poland, trading in memories, destroying the past (your own and that of others) and dreaming of making $1.5 trillion from the blood of the victims of Nazism? Suggestion – both are worse,” said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Zakharova explained that the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for additional “items obtained from the auction” to be added to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum exhibition. “In other cases, one could only approve such an intervention and request the transfer of the exhibits in question to the Polish side,” the diplomat continued. “If only she hadn't claimed them as her 'property.' On what basis? Does Poland have a monopoly on evidence of the Holocaust or Nazi crimes?”

Zakharova noted that Polish President Karol Nawrocki had offered to buy the exhibits in question and included the purchase price in the so-called bill of compensation to Berlin for the damage the country suffered during World War II. “Let me remind you that the Polish authorities have calculated an amount of up to 1.5 trillion USD. Either make money on the memorial theme or weaponize it,” Zakharova summarized.
