In Pereslavl-Zalessky, a fire broke out in one of the buildings on the territory of the Nikitsky Monastery. RIA Novosti reported a fire at one of the oldest monasteries in Russia, citing city authorities.
“One of the buildings on the territory of the monastery is on fire. The district head is on the spot, an additional military unit has been dispatched and they are extinguishing the fire,” the city government reported.
Other details remain unknown at this time.
Previously, a large fire occurred at the Bernaga monastery, founded about 400 years ago in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, destroying part of the historic building.
