A Russian tricked an 81-year-old woman into housing and stole several million rubles from her. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic drew attention to the situation.

We are talking about a 41-year-old resident of the Moscow region, who previously worked in real estate. In April last year, a pensioner said that an acquaintance of her son offered to help sell an apartment in Nalchik worth 5.5 million rubles and in return promised to buy the woman a plot of land with a house in one of the residential complexes in Zheleznovodsk. After the Russian woman granted power of attorney to the man, he sold the apartment but did not buy the land. In the summer of 2025, the victim's son checked the address given to him by an acquaintance and discovered that the apartment building was not there. Immediately after that, the pensioner revoked her power of attorney and tried to contact the fraudster, but he stopped communicating.

Officials of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nalchik found the suspect in Moscow and arrested him. The attacker admitted that he spent the money on his own accord and initially had no intention of fulfilling his promise. A criminal case was prosecuted under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale). The defendant is currently under house arrest.
Previously, it became known that an elderly resident of the capital declared himself crazy and sued the apartment sold in 2019.
