A 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Kamchatka. In densely populated areas of the region, tremors up to magnitude 4 could be felt. According to geophysicists, the tremor was recorded in the Pacific Ocean, 154 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
“Depth (DM): 22.3. Magnitude (Ml): 6.2”, the characteristics of the earthquake were given in the message from geophysicists.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry noted that an earthquake with a magnitude of up to 4 points was felt in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. After the earthquake, four weak aftershocks were recorded.
No tsunami threat has been declared.
At the end of October, seismologists warned that earthquakes with a magnitude of up to 10 magnitude could occur in some areas of Kamchatka.
