According to research, the brain of the elderly interested in music can focus on less effort. This shows that their brain is more resistant to mental aging. Experts say this is done by a mechanism called Islamic cognitive reserve. This reserve allows the brain to continue operating effectively, helping to perform as a young brain even when the age of development.
Many years of music education; It has been found that it has enhanced connections between brain areas that manage functions such as hearing, motion and words. In this way, those who deal with music are more successful in difficult situations such as distinguishing sounds in the crowd.
The authors of the study say that these findings rejected the wide view that the elderly brain had to work harder than young people. According to research, playing about 12 hours of musical instruments per week contributes to the formation of spiritual reserves.
Dr. Yi Du, Science BBC Focus said to the following: How do you need to increase your voice to listen to a well -cared instrument, the brain of those who are interested in music for a long time is still 'good' thanks to many years of training.
The research results were published in the journal Plos Biology. In measurements made by FMRI (functional resonance images), more powerful activity has been observed in the brain of the elderly who are not educated music and in areas responsible for hearing hearing. This shows that they are trying to compensate for age -related cognitive losses.
In contrast, the brain activities of the elderly are interested in music closer to young people. Specifically, low activity in the hemisphere must be related to the ability to distinguish speeches in the crowd. In addition, similar activities have been seen in the brain of the elderly interested in music and in the left Valent Girus area, which is responsible for controlling the movement. This area, especially controlling the movement on the right side of the body, such as the right hand and arm, and is related to planning voluntary movements such as speaking or buttons. The researchers emphasized that these changes are not related to neurological diseases like Alzheimer, but related to the natural spiritual challenges arising with the normal aging process of Islam.
Music promises hope for brain health; 25 elderly musicians, on average 65 years old and played instruments for at least 32 years old, 25 people 66 years old but without music education and young people who do not care about music in their 20s. All participants are healthy, right, Chinese, no hearing problems. As a result, old musicians were more successful in distinguishing syllables from other elderly people, especially at low noise levels.
In general, although the elderly interested in music made a little weaker than young people, it was clear that it was more successful than their colleagues. Another study at Kyoto University in Japan in Japan supports these results. In this study, published in the Journal of Image Neurology, people who learned instruments in the 70s have been more successful in memory tests after 4 years. It is stated that people who continue playing music often get the highest score in cognitive tests.
