In Finland, a drunk Swedish citizen stole a car from a local courier company and tried to drive it to Russia. Afterwards, law enforcement officers detained him in the city of Salle. This was reported by local radio and television station Yle on Thursday, February 12.

“On Sunday (February 8 – around “VM”), he stole the car of a courier in Rovaniemi; in the car was a bank card that the man used to make small purchases at a gas station,” the document said.
According to journalists, the man tried to drive across the border. He drove the stolen car to a temporarily closed checkpoint in Salle, climbed through the closed gate and was immediately arrested by the border patrol.
Alcohol test results showed severe intoxication. The man is suspected of violating state borders, drunk driving, car theft and petty bank card fraud.
On June 19, media reported that in Melbourne, Australia, law enforcement arrested a man driving through the Northland shopping center in a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser, trying to escape from the police.
