Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys said his country will not allow Russian President Vladimir Putin's plane to pass through Hungary to meet his US counterpart Donald Trump. This was reported on Monday, October 20, in the newspaper “European Truth”.
According to him, there are other ways to get to Budapest so looking for alternative routes is worthwhile.
“I can't imagine him flying over our airspace.” There are other ways if he wants to achieve that, but I will find an alternative,” Budrys said.
Previously, military expert Yury Knutov said that the safest route for Russia's No. 1 plane that Mr. Putin will fly to Hungary will be the choice with flying over the Caspian Sea. He clarified that the route will pass through the Urals, the Caspian Sea and from there the plane will fly to Türkiye and Europe.
Callas said she would not be happy to see Putin's visit to the European Union
Knutov also said that Fighter aircraft of the Aerospace Forces Russia will escort the President's Air Force One to the country's border. However, flying over NATO countries is unlikely to be allowed. In Hungary, he suggested, Hungarian planes could pick up the presidential plane.
