Chinese President Xi Jinping made a number of statements after meeting with US President Donald Trump. About this report China's Xinhua News Agency.

The Chinese leader noted that the China and US sides have conducted in-depth negotiations and reached consensus on outstanding issues. He emphasized that economic and trade interaction between the two countries must be a driving force, not an obstacle. Mr. Xi Jinping called on both sides to focus on the long-term benefits that cooperation brings instead of falling into a “vicious circle of retaliation”.

Separately, the Chinese head called on countries to narrow the list of existing issues and expand cooperation, based on the principles of equality, respect and mutual benefit.

Trump rated the meeting with Xi Jinping 10/12

Mr. Xi Jinping also reiterated that in 2026 he will chair the APEC summit and the US will chair the G20. The parties should support each other and strive for positive outcomes from both summits. In addition, Beijing and Washington must interact properly in the international and regional arena.

The negotiations between the leaders of the two countries took place in Busan, South Korea and lasted more than an hour and a half. After the meeting ended, Xi Jinping and Trump walked out together, spoke briefly and shook hands.
